7th Grade Math
Welcome to 7th grade math! We are in for an exciting year. We will be working out of our new textbooks, the Prentice Hall Pre Algebra series. I am very excited about these new books and in combination with a hands on approach to math, we should have lots of fun this year!
Summer math packets will not be accepted after Thursday, September 6th. Remember, this is your first quiz grade, so let's start off on the right foot.
Grading Policy
Grades will be based on:
10%-Class participation and attendance
20%- Homework
30%- Quizzes
40%- Tests and Projects
Test Retake Policy
For those parents who were unable to make it to Open House, I'd like to tell you about my policy on test grades. If your child earns a grade of 70 or less on a test, they are eligible for a retake. They can take the test over again and fix the answers that they got wrong and I will give them half the point value per question for each corrected answer. The students must do this on their own time, however. They are welcome to stay after school or come in early to do this. The students who have taken advantage of this have managed to raise their grades by as much as a letter grade. The student may take the test as many times as it takes them to get a 70.
